#1 Exhaust cam starved of oil
Hi, just rebuilt my series 2 engine. Car started fine, oil pressure at 1500 rpm is reading 40+, when I checked inlet cam valley built up oil quickly yet exhaust cam no evidence of oil flow. Cracked open banjo fitting on exhaust cam and it started leaking oil. How does oil get from banjo fitting to cam lobes? Looks like a blockage somewhere between banjo and cam lobes? Any ideas?

The oil feeds from the banjo into the bolt shank via aperture in the shank. The oil then travels along the shank and so to the camshafts themselves. You need to remove the bolt and ensure that its oilways are free . Check in particular that if you have used any sealing tape it has not covered up the oilways in the bolt/banjo

Hi, thanks for quick reply. From what I can see the banjo/bolt sit below the end of the cam? Wondered how oil gets into cam from this position?

Via a slot in the camshaft sitting in its bearing.....Steve
