Hi Mike,
Would it also be able to use another good sender, but calibrated to a different scale (I think I have some senders from Maserati Ghibli)?
one for me please :-)

The Ignition light also doubles as the oil pressure warning light on Series 1 cars, unless you have modified it.

According to my Operating, Maintenance & Service Handbook 4.2 E Type (Publication No.: E/131/3), “the Ignition Warning Light (marked “Ignition”) situated in the speedometer lights up when ignition is switched “on” and the engine is not running, this light does not provide any indication of the state of charge, nor does it indicate if the fan belt has broken. always switch “off” when the engine in not running.”
No mention of ignition warning doubling up for oil pressure.
I have a separate oil light on the dash that compliments my ‘wet’ gauge.

Yep, don't know when it stopped but on early S1cars there was a low pressure sender on the oil galley that went to ground when pressure dropped to low and lit the Ign Light.

My car definitely does not have an oil pressure warning light or even something that functions as one. If this is as a result of a modification then I'm not aware of it. The ignition earning light only indicates whether the alternator is charging.

Your car is too late. Pretty sure only on 3.8 and maybe early 4.2.

. In early cars, including S1 4.2's up to about July 1967, the ignition light was controlled by an oil pressure switch.
July 1967, the oil pressure switch was replaced by the 3AW control unit. Now the ignition warning light was controlled by the alternator. If no alternator output, the light would go on.
