#1 Tracking down a family car

Post by tubbyturner » Thu Aug 24, 2023 3:35 pm

So im here looking for some help. My 60 year old cousin once owned a beautiful series 1 e type coupe which we believe was chassis no 32 off the first production line , the car was first registered 1st feb 1962... number plate is 163 HYV ..i can see its taxed, insured and recently mot , so assume its still in the uk with a princely 5,646 miles on it..... my cousin started to restore the car in the 1980s, we had it repainted in its original red colour and we started the full rstoration, but sadly due to money and health issues my cousin was forced to sell the car sometime around 1990. Now my cousin is approaching his 60th birthday and he is about to lose his sight, i am looking to see if before he goes blind anyone could point me in the direction of the current owner for some up to date pictures to show him as a final memory. i appreciate people may think this is some sort of scam or ruse but i assure you its 1 cousin trying to give his ill cousin a lasting memory of what was once his proudest possession. there is only one pic of the actual car i have managed to trace on the internet but the related website says it wasnt a car they transported.....i know this is a long shot, and i wish my cousin had placed chassis 32 under a dust sheet 40 odd yrs ago and forgotten about it...i hope the currebt owner loves it as much as my cousin did and talks about it as glowingly as my cousi still does to thsi day...as i say i know im looking for a needle in a haystack but if anyone can help i know it will be on here...thnx in advance martin red series 1 Etype REG 163 HYV ....where are you

You could try writing to the E.type club (www.e-typeclub.com) with as much detail as you have. Go to the website for contact details. The club won't be able to disclose any details if they are aware of the car due to GDPR but may be willing to pass on your details to the member concerned if they are club members or offer to put a classified advert in the magasine...£25 for non members....
Pre GDPR you could write to the DVLA and ask for the keeper details but those days are gone.
