Hi. Series 1 2+2
My ignition switch does everything it should do when I turn the key from vertical in a clockwise direction. No problems with that.
But I can also turn the key anticlockwise and it does exactly the same. Everything that is energised when it is turned clockwise is energised when turned anti clockwise.
I cannot find reference to turning it anticlockwise in any of the handbooks or technical info.
Does anyone also have the same 'problem' ?

Hi Steve,
The anti-clockwise position is to energise the accessory circuits. I don’t think it should energise the fuel pump or ignition.

Thanks Simon.
That sounds like a plausible answer. But when I turn the switch anticlockwise everything is energised, including the ignition circuit.
Strange that I have found no reference in the handbooks etc as to this feature.
Do others have the ability to turn the key anticlockwise?

Steve,
What year is yours? The very last year of Series 1 production came with the Series 2 column-mounted switch. The Series 2 manuals describe the anti-clockwise accessary position.
Put your car details in your signature, it will help with future questions.
