Gaz rear suspension

I've decided to buy gaz adjustable for the rear end. That will give me some flexibility if needed on ride height position

They come with a standard spring force of 345lbs which seems high compared to the jag spec.

Has anyone fitted these and if so how is the ride.

I thought there were 2 options for the spring on the adjustable platform shock....you need to discuss this with Gaz and/or the supplier...Steve..ps SNGB were useing these on their demo E type 50EE

I have rear Gaz shocks and the adjuster doesn’t affect height, it’s purely bump/rebound setting (firm to soft). See point #8 on link:

I've Checked suitability with the normal suppliers and they all supply Gaz shocks with fixed height but variable bump/rebound. They also don't include bump stops on the gaz version they supply

Gaz direct, supply height adjustable coil-overs with fixed bump stops. As I said earlier, their standard springs are rated at 325lbs, rather than the etype spec of 265lbs. Overall fixing centres is 13-1/4", pretty close to series 1 spec.

So is there anyone who has experience of the ride when using the standard spring (325lbs) on the gaz "adjustable height" shocks.

No direct experience with 325lb/in but I've run 300lb/in rear springs on my FHC in the past (currently running 275). A 22% increase in spring rate (325/265) would be undetectable by most people, and could offer a useful increase in load capacity for a 2+2. (Didn't 2+2's have a higher rate spring than the short wheelbase cars?) Springs are typically available in various ratings (and free lengths) and aren't that expensive in the grand scheme of things.

Apolgies, late to the party on this topic. Yes I have the Gas rear shocks with the 325 lb springs and the adjustable platform. The ride is sublime, but I have fully rebuilt the IRS as well as the rest of the car so all is new. But I am very satisfied with the ride. I have however only covered about 500 miles so far. Hi Andrew,

How much adjustment do you have left on the 8" springs. I read a post which indicated 75% of the range was taken up by getting the ride height correct. Was wondering if 9" springs may be better.

I will take a look next time I am under the car, but I do not recall I am out of adjustment by a long way, how ever are not getting the spring lengths muddled? The shorter the spring, the lower the ride height. If you fit longer springs the car will sit higher and you will need more, if its even possible, to lower to the correct ride height. I do not recall which spring length I have, but they were supplied by GAZ directly for fitment to my E type. Series 1

I've got these on my cobra. It's been a while since I adjusted them but I thought you wind them up, shorten the spring, to increase the road clearance.

There is some confusion in this thread....compressing a spring in an adjustable height platform shock is different to actually fitting a longer spring into the same platform shock...
