In my engine were 2 pistons in Std size and, 4 piston in 0.020 oversize(!). All cylinders were +0.020. So a terrible mismatch, and digging into the story of this car, it's been a project where the owner was very good at taking things apart, and there it stopped for 20 years. Someone bought the project, and to make it ready for resale it was assembled. Or thrown together I would say.
For the engine that means that for me just to assemble it in the same manner and sequence that I took it apart, that's no guarantee of doing it right.
So to my question, the connecting rods. They were in correct cylinder, 1 at the back, 6 at the front. And the rod cap was on the correct way, so both the stamped numbers are on the same side. Fine. But theoretically all the connecting rods could be turned 180 degrees. I don't know if that matters.
Currently, if I hold up a piston/connecting rod so I can read the stamped numbers, the piston front is to the left. I haven't been able to google if this is correct. I'd like to know before moving all connecting rods to the new 0.040 pistons
Thanks for reading this far
