#1 Wing Mirrors style and fitting

Post by inca » Wed Jan 11, 2023 11:21 am

Hi

Please can I have advice and opinions on wing mirrors. When I had my bonnet resprayed on my series 2 FHC I removed the bullet style wing mirrors I had on both sides of the bonnet as I felt they detracted somewhat from the shape of the bonnet. like these ones..

https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/classic-b ... gJsmfD_BwE

Im looking to now instead use what I feel is a less obtrusive drivers side mirror attached to the door pillar so the bonnet is free from wing mirrors.

https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/mini-clip ... gJ_xvD_BwE

Im having problems getting the clamp on the pillar as its doesn't have the depth to be screwed on fully secure and want to avoid drilling small pilot holes in the chrome trim. Starting to now wonder whether those bullet mirrors weren't so bad after all !

Please can I have advice on best way to fit pillar door mirrors and what the overall view is on what style mirrors are best for a FHC?

Many thanks

Mark

I have these fitted to my Series 2 OTS. The left hand one was fitted from new to all US spec cars, so I matched it for the other side. I find them pretty good and they are original

I agree with Simon.
I had also bullet style mirrors on my series 3, but never could see nothing clear with them.
The only use i gave them was to lift the bonnet. I put the same mirror as Simon.
You have to take care in buying the correct one, because the Triumph mirror will not bend enough to see the rear of the car.

Using the forum for my usual pre-winter jobs research.

I would like to fit those to mine I think Simon - they look good.

Where did you source them please?

Cheers

From memory, the LH Mirror was original to the car and in good condition. The RH one was sourced from David Manners. As was mentioned earlier, the similar looking Triumph Stag mirror has a different angle and won’t work. They were manufactured by TEX
