#1 1962 3.8 Sunvisor Query

Post by politeperson » Tue Dec 02, 2025 11:25 am

Does anyone know what the correct sun visors should have on my 1962 3.8 Roadster please?

Produced 31st May 1962, chassis number 800536, RHD DHC.

This is what came off it. Transparent blue with a pair of clamps?

Those are after market. The OTS did not get sun visors until the September 1966:

I see, thank-you.
Driving without sun-visors can be very nasty indeed IMHO.
I remember driving around without them on the XK120 with screens.
Not nice at certain times of the day- pointing in certain directions with the sun low burning your eyeballs, even with a cap, sunglasses and goggles.
I guess the original owner must of fitted them as they do look period.
I notice SNG listing a set of new brackets for £410, so it wont be cheap to go in another direction.
Think I might clean up theses brackets, replace the perspex and keep them.
Were blue sun visors a thing back then? Why blue I wonder?
What do you think?

I have a graduated blue tint built into the top of my windscreen laminate. I am sure you can get a blue film to attach to the inside of your screen, lots of companies do it.

Very effective I find.
