Sorry - I just have to tell the world...

After months of frustration during the rebuild - I have reached a major milestone

My car is now alive...

It's very quiet, I cannot hear the engine at all.

Congratulations

Okay :( here it is then.... filmed by my 9 year old daughter... and yes clearly we share the same mental age - i WAS a tad overwhelmed (mostly with surprise) and she likes her dad acting like a kid... enough excuses? (probably not)

Obviously the ignition and carbs still need tuning but hey it starts on the button...

Chris,
I didn't see anything that looks one bit abnormal for a guy starting the engine for the first time after a rebuild. I am sure that if someone had made a video of me at first startup (I only had to drain the fuel, clean the filters and carbs and fill with fresh gas, sorry, petrol), I would have looked much more idiotic with my dancing and fist pumping. You deserve to be proud of a job "well done."
Mark
