The clutch in my car was replaced and has only done 3000 miles. The other day I noticed that suddenly the biting point was only just above the floor as opposed to its usual 1/4 way depressed. I figured this might be because of air in the system / a faulty slave cylinder (as I seem to go through these).
Cutting to the chase - I have replaced the slave cylinder AND the master cylinder - I have decent pedal pressure but the biting point is STILL just off the floor so I am thinking the issue is not hydraulics and I am getting a little frustrated.
Any suggestions good people as to why the clutch might do this after a 6 month layup?
Cheers

#2 Re: Clutch - low biting point
I had the same issue with my MK2 after just 600 km. The cause was the graphite release bearing, which had literally disintegrated. It was a brand-new part from SNG; I mentioned it to them, and they told me they’d had a defective batch but couldn't replace it under warranty since I’d bought it over a year prior. Well, it’s not the cost of the bearing itself, but the labor involved in taking everything apart again...
