Replacement of Distributor - series II

I've had to remove the starter motor on my series II for reconditioning. I removed the distributor to allow the motor to be withdrawn along the side of the engine. I'm now putting things back together - I even just now managed to get the starter motor back on my own but really wouldn't like to have to do that again.... The engine hasn't been turned over and I did not touch the distributor clamping bracket. However, I'm not sure about refitting the distributor. It's spigot is slotted of course. But is there a possibility of getting the timing 180 degrees out if I slot it in the wrong way round, or will the timing be in sequence whichever way it's slotted back? Thanks, J.

No, you cannot put it back the wrong way if the plate has not been loosened . The drive dog has an offset in it - not easy to see but it is there, so it will only go back in at one position of the rotor drive shaft
