My S3 power steering feels too light I gather there is a Jaguar Tech. Service Bulletin dated 1971 which authorised dealers to fit a 50 thou. thick washer in the pump valve to reduce the relief pressure from 1150psi to 850/800psi. Does anyone know where I can find the bulletin or find out how to do this fix. Also has anyone done it and is it a big improvement or should I go for the Rob Beere adjustable valve fix

JHM1149 seems to have the 1971 service bulletins in it, as does JHM1151.

Thanks for your help I have managed to find out I need part No 11633 but unfortunately it is no longer available. Does anyone know the exact size of the washer and what it is made from i.e brass, s/s etc or alternatively where I might get one from I have tried Barretts and Jaguar Classic parts

I have done a very similar conversion on my EV12 eight years ago. You have to work 30 minutes on the car and the steering is better.
You can do it in two ways:
First:

Second , like I have done: instead of puting some washers to the valve, you can also grind the small spring inside the valve. I shortened the spring with a grinder roundabout 4 mm. If you do it to much, you will loose to much of the servo assistence, when you are turning the steering wheel, whilst the car is standing. Therefore it is better, to grind 2 mm , mount the valve and test the car. Then you can grind off another 0,5mm and test again. You stop, when you feel, that the valve is opening completele, if you turn the steering wheel, when the car ist standing.
Since I have done this some years ago, my steering is working well.
Sometimes an old pump is making a ill noise, when turning the steering wheel, when the car ist standing. This noise has disappeared completly.

Just enter "saginaw power steering pump modification" or some such phrase into google for everything you need to know about pressure increase/decreases for these pumps
