#1 Fiona Richmond E-Type
In the early 70's porn baron Paul Raymond had a primrose yellow E-Type with the registration number FU 2 which his then girlfriend, porn star Fiona Richmond, used for driving around Soho. It caused a sensation at the time and had a lot of press coverage.

The BBC recorded a program in the late 90s called 'The Car's The Star' presented by Quentin Wilson. One of the episodes was on the E Type, and featured various celebs being interviewed recalling their experience with the E type in the day. Amongst them was Adam Faith, who had one of the first 10 or so cars, Lord Snowdon, Jackie Stewart and Fiona Richmond. The film showed her posing with the primrose S3 OTS reg. FU2, and driving the car ...some great shots!!
I have it on video (somewhere) and I'm sure that I have a video player somewhere as well...I'll see if I can dig it all out.
The very weekend I bought my primrose S3, I was glancing through the Sunday Times, and spotted the number plate FU2 for sale. I was quite excited when I saw it was going for ?1000, as I thought it would be perfect for my car. Unfortunately, a second look revealed a crease in the paper, and the price was ?100,000, or four times what I'd just paid for the car!

FU2 was sold to Billy Smart who in turn offered it for sale in 2001. No idea where it is now. Would love to have a copy of 'The Car's The Star' as I have been looking everywhere for it for ages. Does not seem to exist as far as Google is concerned!

Is yours a factory copy or a copy from the TV? Mine is, from memory, a little 'snowey' as it was recorded from the TV...so yours may be a better option.
I have a tape to DVD recorder, so could rattle off a few DVDs once recorded...but let me see if I can find mine and determine the quality first!

yes mark, mine is also from the TV.
like you i`m not sure where it is, but know i can find it. its been a while since i watched it, but i think the quality was ok.
the tape is full of car programmes all recorded from the TV. when i get 3 hrs spare I `ll dig it out
you can borrow it if you want, to see which tape is best.

Hi David,
That is interesting your comments that Paul Raymond had Fiona Richmond driving around in an E-Type registered FU2. I was living in Lincoln during the early 70's and remember a BMW driving around Lincoln with the Registration FU2. I wonder if Paul Raymond had connections in Lincoln?

It is quite a memorable number!
I've found the video and the video / dvd player, and it plays. Quality OK, but may not come up best on big screen. Just have to find the manual that tells me how to copy Vid to DVD, and we're in business!
The episode is better than I remembered, with quite a bit of period footage. And it's Lord Litchfield, not Snowdon. George Best makes an apperance as well, but no car I'm afraid.

I had a quick look through my old videos last night, looking for "the stars the car"
and i came across this programme which i had forgotten about, recorded on 27th 10 1992. on channel 4 (i think)
without walls..... the story of E.

As i hadn't seen it for a while, it was good to watch again!
anybody else remember it?

The period owner (Geoff Wilson) of this 2+2 auto claims it was originally registered FU 2 before he bought it:

I remember in the 70's driving along the North Circular Road in my Dolomite Sprint and coming to Staples Corner roundabout when I saw a primrose yellow e-type being driven by a woman. I followed it round the roundabout and was amazed by seeing FR and the car's numberplate of FU2.

So Steve, it was the Seventies and you were presumably a successful young man driving one of the period's sporty little numbers. Care to elaborate how come you recognised Ms Richmond?vikla wrote:I remember in the 70's driving along the North Circular Road in my Dolomite Sprint and coming to Staples Corner roundabout when I saw a primrose yellow e-type being driven by a woman. Peter, as I'm sure you know she was a sort of Katie Price of her time. I had heard about the car and the number plate so I put 2 and 2 together when I saw it.
