#1 Rear axle chatter vibration

Post by Yeldaw » Sun Jul 15, 2012 11:52 am

Hi I just had the pinion seal changed on the diff and now when I turn into a left hand corner and accelerate through the bend I occassionally get a vibration/Chatter from the rear axle. Could it be the garage haven't fitted the pinion seal properly. I think I have read that it could be because a ltd slip addItive should be added is this right.

Thanks Dave

It sounds like the limited slip clutches chattering, which may well happen if an EP oil without the appropriate LSD additives has been used

This sounds like an issue I have. Happens after say a run round the M25 then come off at a junction and turn left at the junction roundabout. Feels very clonky and 'catchy' also get what sounds like an eleastic band catching but fear that's the power steering belt!!

I don't get the dif issue when cold. Does happen on reverse most times though and this is after a rebuild.
