Is there a definitve guide/technical publication available for lhd to rhd conversion of Series 1 car ?
Looks to be relatively straightforward but would appreciate heads up on parts required and likely unforeseen problems.

Speak to M&C Wilkinson - they do a complete conversion kit with all the parts, reconditioned where necessary. Hutsons do the same.

If you speak to Andy at Hutsons, he can provide you with repro Dash parts and he also has (as near as damn) the correct black material to cover them with (he'll do that as well for you).
Having been down the road of buying original dash parts and paid the earth for them in the past, I recommend taking this route.
It is a straightforward conversion and requires the following:
1. New loom (or extend existing) for centre dash panel
2. New steering rack
3. New throttle pedal.
4. Fibreglass housing for steering column
5. Remove mounting for indicator switch and re-braze on the opposite side.
6. Blanking panels for LHS of bulkhead
7. Crank brake and clutch pedal for RHD.
8. Rerun brake and clutch lines.
9. New headlights.
10. Lenses for front and rear sidelights.
11. New legend for switches on centre dash
12 Reposition instruments on centre dash (or leave as is)
13 Replace wiper arms for RHD and rewire motor for RHD (sweeps opposite way on LHD). This is optional as I have seen a number of cars where the wipers are left for LHD and it doesn't appear to be a huge problem.
