#1 clip on mirrors

Post by stevex75 » Sun Aug 05, 2012 7:35 am

Ive got hold of a couple of clip on mirrors, one rectangular and one round. I want to use the round one as I think it will suit the car more. However i just can not see how they fix to the window frame and still allow the glass to slide up and down. Am I missing the blindingly obvious or what?

Hi
I ended up using my clip on mirror clamped to the top edge of the door as I found it too close to see out of clamped to the window frame. If clamping to the window frame, the metal section that sits between the window channel and the frame is thin enough not to interfere.

Hi Steve,

If the mirrors are of the normal design, they may look as if they prevent the window rising, but as long as the clamp goes under the rubber channel you will find all is OK - best thing is to give it a go and see how it works out.

They do indeed allow the window to work but if you want to keep them attached you need to cut about 1/4" off the clamp to allow the base to sit further over the chrome. More info: http://myetype.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1157&start=0

Any chance of a close up to see exactly how they fit?

Tex Mirrors - A UK company, but they ship all over the world,

I'll look up the code, but they are the same shape as the original Series 3 mirrors, just different stalks,

Hi again Rob,

Mirror code is: MQO4,

Web address is:

http://www.texautomotive.com/classic_ex ... rrors.html

I phoned an order through, pretty quick and very helpful. I bought the oval mirrors here in Aus, 'cos they were out of stock at the factory and I was in a rush, but all should be good now. I bought other items, which tested the delivery and costs. Cheaper to buy from factory than aftermarket, but I needed them for a Roadworthy inspection and in a hurry.
