Hi has anyone used plexiglass for the headlamp covers, how were they to fit and where did you get them.

Yes I have them on my, done so since 1999 and 42,000 miles later they are still in excellent condition. They have the advantage of being unbreakable, far lighter and easier to fit than the original glass items, certainly easier to fit than the repro glass ones! You can get them from RS Panels but they are expensive (?180 + VAT) and you may have to cut them to fit as they are designed for racers. Alternatively you can buy them from Forum member Mark Clapp for $70 + $30 p&p to the UK. They are excellent items and will fit immediately although you can shape them with tin snips (really, they are that strong) or sand them but it is unlikely you will need to do so. I have just had a set from Mark and the service and customer care was second to none. Highly recommended and a bargain. More info here: http://etypeuk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4211

Thanks David for your reply did the ones from mark fit the shape of the bonnet because I have heard new glass covers don't really fit. Will the plexiglass bend to meet the bonnet

Yes the plexiglass will readily bend to fit although the ones Mark supplies are already pre-formed. Basically you just fit the plexi into the rubber seal, put them in place and screw down the chrome trim which will 'shape' them for a perfect bonnet match. There is a problem with the repro glass and although my bonnet is the correct shape I could not get the o/s headlamp glass to fit and there is nowhere to go from there
