wiper motor drive arm ?
#1 wiper motor drive arm ?
can anyone tell me the length of the wiper motor drive arm from the center drive spindle to where it attaches to the rod that runs the wiper arms ? i think mine is short as the sweep of the wipers is very short

Which car? There are at least three variations of wiper motor.

No, some USA export cars had the square DL3A motor for a while rather than the round 15w and there may have been substitutes during the car's life. Simplest to say the motor is round or square so you can be sure of getting the correct measurement.

Plus yours is a two-wiper car....
Sorry, don't have the answer for that.

Have you got everything bar the arm, or are you trying to choose between two versions in your possession?
I mentioned I didn't know, but why not figure it out if you've got everything bar the arm? In fact why not figure out which one to use if you've got two?
Just sweep the wipers to and fro across the screen and that will give you the total distance moved by the link arm attachment point. Obviously the arm length centre to centre is half that...

if you read the first post you will see that i was asking about the length of the arm because the wipers on my car only wipe about half of what they should if someone can tell me what length center to center the motor arm should be i could check mine as i think it is short , it would be easy to remove the arm and extend it but if it is the correct length i might overload the motor

Can't help regarding the length as I don't have a plus 2 in. Thinking about it though, if it is the original motor, I would not be 100% sure that the rod is wrong. Could it be something like the limit switch?
To be really sure I'd take the armature out and turn the motor by hand. If all works fine, the fault lies in the motor.

the motor obviously is going round as the wipers go back and forth the only thing that controls how far the travel is the motor arm to wiper driven arm ratio (the is no play so it is not due to worn parts) as to the motor being original , who knows i assume it has been replaced with one that has the wrong length arm hence the question "how long should the arm be"

no as it is all together i can't see the point in taking it apart again until i know how long the arm should be, without trying to sound grumpy is the anyone who can answer this question as all i seem to be getting is more questions ? the motor looks right and works the only thing is the restricted movement of the wiper arms i just need some information has anyone got a series 2 motor on the bench so they can tell me the length of the arm ?

So this is an S2 2+2 with 15W motor, twin wiper blades and has been converted from LHD to RHD but not in your ownership I assume? My guess is something has been overlooked or bodged during the conversion. As it seems no one currently has such a setup on the bench have you thought about ordering another rotary link arm?
Having no experience of an S2 2+2 I can only relate it to the S1 wiper setup. This has a rotary arm #7 which connects to the primary link #8:

I would have thought the amount of travel would be determined by the rotary arm? Is this the one you want measured?
Edit: Just realised the S2 2+2 wiper system is the same as the S3:

Might be quicker to order the correct part (#12535) and just fit it. Otherwise use the Jaguar drawing to try and judge scale. They are usually pretty accurate.
