Location of "stickers" and plates in the engine ba

Hello All

I know it's a model S1 3.8, but I recently purchased a set of decals for the engine bay and I was wondering where the real manufacturer's plates and "stickers" go? Seem to be having a hard time finding a definitive list. I am aware of the location of the following:

Chassis Plate
Ignition Coil
Coopers sticker on air filter
Lucas electric screenjet on washer bottle
Lucas logo on battery case
Polarity warning on top of the heater box

I have decals of the following:

White with red lettering - "IMPORTANT, Disconnect battery positive terminal before servicing fuel system electrical equipment"
"BRAKE SYSTEM" (the rest is unreadable, but it is small)

One dark green decal with JAGUAR in gold with a gold surround
Dark green decal with "MADE IN ENGLAND" in gold

Two green Smiths decals with a notice on "rotation" and the model code, voltage etc. I assume these are for the heater box?

Black decal with white lettering: "MANUFACTURED BY JAGUAR CARS LTD , MONTH/YEAR and a few small boxes.

I have included some pictures for reference:








This will also help when it comes to doing the same thing on the real 3.8!

The bottom size is the best match for scale so that is the one I'm using

If its a 3.8 then I do not think it should have the battery polarity sticker at all. 3.8s were positive earth with dynamo, the alternator/negative earth came in with the 4.2.

The "fuel system electrical" label lives in the boot in the spare wheel well on the front wall just to the right of the right front edge of the fuel tank. Sorry, don't have a picture.

The "Made in England" label goes just below the chassis plate on the flat part of the sill behind the front wheel.

The Lucas rotation sticker goes on the round casing of the fan motor sticking out below the heater box.

Can't help with the rest of them.

The 3.8 had few "stickers" which is why there is no list anywhere. The only ones on the car were those as part of an assembly (Lucas Screenjet washer, Marston radiator, Trico Reservac, Lucas battery and maybe the Lucas coil) or Jaguar related (chassis number, Made in England). There was the warning plate x2 about disconnecting the battery before messing with the fuel pump in the wheel well and the running in sticker on the windscreen and that is about it. The Coopers air filter was after market and the rest of the decals on your card were for the 4.2 (e.g polarity plate) or the S2 (emission stuff). Even so I think the Triplex decal was only on the S2 cars and the factory did not have the Lucas sticker on the coil.

Thanks all for the advice, I had a feeling that the emission control sticker was for the Strombergs...

Will get to work once the car is done! Incidentally I have fully converted the model (1:8 Monogram) to RHD. Will post photos when done

No David I'm sticking with the standard black sidewalls. The model will be completed to the same spec as Richards 3.8, which is being restored to its original spec of bronze with suede green! Sounds rare and errr interesting... Not many bronze e types about.

Just as a thought, what colour should the ignition coil be? I've seen many different colours, usually gold or silver though

Silver - the gold Lucas coil was the 'Sport' version and was after-market not Factory.

FWIW, the Lucas Sport coil back in the day was silver coloured alloy just like the original one. The gold anodizing is a disappointing later "enhancement". IIRC the bakelite parts were brick red on the Sport rather than the black on the original.
