Hi
One of the many jobs I need to do is touch in the paint on the underside of the bonnet. It's currently matt red and I'm not sure what is the best method of converting some of my gloss red paint to match it.
Anyone know how?
Cheers
Alan

The 'traditional' way to make paint matt is to experiment with minimal amounts of talcum powder but it depends on your equipment. You could simply go over the gloss red with T-Cut, or 2000 grit, and then wax it back to the point you're happy. The under-bonnet should be normal body colour anyway, though not the highest blemish-free mirror gloss because they weren't as fussy under there as the exterior. Come to think of it, the majority of resto paint jobs are way overdone anyhow, compared to factory spec.

Just add some matting agent to the paint, available on line or from a paint factors.

Thanks for the replies Gents. The wet and dry option has the advantage of allowing you to see when you've reached the right"dullness" whereas the Matt agent would be more guesswork.
The underbonnet paint is more dull than Matt. From what you've said Pete my S1 is not one of these over-restored trailer queens, which suits me fine. Now if only I could remember where I stashed my wet and dry?
Cheers
