#1 Carpet Mats for S1

Post by kingzetts » Mon Feb 03, 2014 5:30 pm

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but a quick search did not reveal anything.

I am looking for a good source of overmats for my front footwell carpets. My interior is a light beige and the footwell carpets are inevitably marking up and looking a bit shabby, so I'm thinking of using black in the footwell (looks fine on my beige-leather-trimmed XKR).

I'm loathe to buy a new set of footwell carpets (?120-ish) in black from the main trim suppliers but I'm also a bit leery of the suppliers who sell cheapish overmats for every car under the sun as I'm not sure if their offerings will fit well enough.

So, anyone on here bought any overmats (carpet, not rubber) which they are happy with and if so from where?

Make your own, it's easy. Just buy carpet, cut to shape and have them edged, it will save yourself loads and you get exactly whatever shape you want, velcro fasteners and hey presto its done.

John,

There is a place on the industrial estate just before you go into Kidderminster that will supply the carpet and also whip the edges.
I used them to have a large piece of surplus carpet whipped to use as a mat.

In fact just opposite that estate is a large carpet supplier as well. Whipping only costs a couple of quid.
