#1 Series 1 4.2 OTS questions

Post by Alty Ian » Tue Feb 18, 2014 11:02 pm

Did they make the late series 1 OTS 's with the longer body as per the 2+2 's. I assume not but thought I would ask the experts.

Being quite tall I find the series 1's don' t have enough space for me but would love to get one,....could the leg room be increased somehow?

Any advice or comments would be much appreciated.

The only LWB OTS is the S3. However, from S1.5 onwards the 6cyl cars had proper reclining seats which makes the car a lot less cramped, especially with the top up. With the top down the back of the seat hits the folded hood but still...

The downside is you can't easily raise the hood from one side of the car as you have to go to both doors (or stretch across the cabin) to bring the recliners forward. On 3.8s you don't need to touch the seats and on S1 4.2 you can just flip both backs forward from one side.

Roomiest of all is a recliner car with hardtop and the hood removed giving loads of room inside..

Thanks Pete for the excellent summary.

So I take it the S1 4.2 seats can be pushed well back with the hood up or a hard top. On the car I tried out yesterday the seats wouldnt go back any further and I felt very cramped indeed.
