#1 Stone Guard Colour

Post by andrewh » Sat Mar 22, 2014 5:33 pm

I have looked at the factory fit thread but its pretty tricky to whether the stone guard mesh is painted Dove Grey on and early 3.8 or just the surround. Anyone got the definitive answer please?

The surround was Dove Grey, the mesh was cadmium plated.

Thanks David. I thought you may say that but it's going to be tricky as I think the mesh on my new grill is spot welded to the frame. Umm. Will have to investigate. Thanks for the response.

I bought a new stone guardl from SNGB recently and the grill was not spot welded to the frame. Held in place by three set screws on the sides and two at the top. Check the SPC for the types of washers used (tip - the washers on the top two set screws are different to the other six for some reason).

Thank you David. When checked its actually only the lower frame which is part of the mesh , the rest of the frame is fixed by screws and special washers so no problem painting this the correct colour. Just fitting the new stainless exhaust and retired hurt. Very sharp edges and cut myself on one of them . Retired for Sunday lunch and a glass of wine instead!

Argh! Should be a mild steel silencer system for the correct sound.
