I have a rather loose working column switch. The horn and indicators work fine, but the headlamp flasher works sometimes, but not others. Sometimes it wont switch off. And sometimes I've been away from the car, and the headlamps have turned on all by themselves! If I operate the headlamp flasher switch a few times, they go off.

The column switch itself appears to have a great deal of play in it. I've uploaded a video of it to show what I mean. What does anyone think? I'm I going to have to splash out on a new switch?

Couldn't see it clearly, but I had problems with that lever in terms of the indicators sticking on or refusing to work. Inside the plastic shroud, there is a small metal shield which is purely cosmetic, and I think it's there on yours. Mine was sticking on the plastic shroud. I cut it out and threw it away: no probs now!
