#1 Series 2 2+2 rear exhaust mount

Post by iani » Thu Jul 24, 2014 8:31 pm

Can anyone post a picture of their series 2 2+2 rear exhaust mount, the one under the boot floor. I changed my exhaust tonight and have had to fab an adaptor plate to fit the tailpipes to the bracket that was on my car. I've looked at the images in parts catalogues but it isn't clear for this bracket, a picture would help.

Thanks

The six cylinder 2+2 cars have a unique rear mount. It consists of a pin fixed to the boot floor over which fits a steel ring attached between the resonators (with a rubber bobbin between the two, to keep NVH down.

Picture available in the J38 2+2 parts manual for S1 2+2 cars.

Thanks Pete, I have the pin, it's the part fitted to the resonators on my car that doesn't seem right. The parts lists I've seen suggest that i need a rubber bush to fit into a ring, the assembly I have has a large rubber piece that fits over the peg. The effect is that my exhaust sits lower than it should, this is particularly noticeable now as I have fitted Series 1 resonators.

Time to buy the right bits then, new or secondhand, and assemble them correctly to the resonator brackets.
