#1 No front brakes

Post by drichards » Thu Jul 31, 2014 5:31 pm

From a bare metal restoration we have got the rear brakes to work but cannot get the front brakes to operate. I have replaced the old Dunlop brakes and original discs with Zeus Callipers but everything else is the same. Suggestions welcome why this is the case even though we believe we have bled the system correctly.

I fitted Zeus calipers front and rear on my 1963. 3.8 and they are just as good as modern brakes. Zeus did stress that the front brakes had to be fitted the right way up or they wouldn't,t bleed properly. Your problem might be as simple as that. Check that the bleed nipple is at the top

Hi, you dont say which model braking system you have. If a 3.8 check the front master cylinder is not sending the fluid back into the reservoir instead of pushing the caliper pistons out. If it is, its likely the seal or seating for the seal at the end of the cylinder is defective.

hope this helps Barrie

Thanks for the tips, the car is a 62 Series 1 3.8. I had hoped to have looked at the brakes this weekend but will report back when the issue is rectified. The Callipers are fitted correctly so I will need to look at the seals
