#1 Sun visors

Post by kensharp » Wed Dec 10, 2014 11:48 am

I'm looking for a pair of sun visors for my S1 2+2 if anyone can help. Both mine appear to have been lost during dismantling and as far as I can see they are not available new, although I believe the actual covers may be.

Visors available from BAS. Not sure about the mounting brackets though.

Don't believe the brackets and end stops are produced. First port of call will be to Richard Smith to find out what is available. Not going to be cheap though if they are not reproduced!

Handy for the taller drivers of OTS's to keep flies off the forehead. Although at same does block your view over the windscreen !

I was talking to Andy at Hutsons earlier & he advised that the full kit (visor & brackets) is available & indicated circa ?60 a side.

Hi everyone,
re sun visors.
I have just spoken to Richard Smith as I needed sun visor brackets as well (S1 3.8 FHC). He has them remanufactured in batches of 10 and has some in stock at the moment. I have just purchased two, but there are some left. I think he said ?190 for the pair, or thereabouts, which is cheaper than Barratt's listed price of two hundred and something. The sunvisors themselves can be purchased from BAS in Cwmbran for about ?75 pair plus VAT. It takes a couple of weeks as they are made to order.

Cheers

By the way, Hutson's only have sun visor brackets if they currently have items from breaking E - types. They can supply the sunvisor itself. They currently have no brackets, according to Andy. They have some E-types being broken but his boss wants to keep the bits for themselves to use in restoration, understandably!

Hi , I make the FHC sunvisor arms for Richard Smith and have done for some years - I have made around 200 pairs now and I can tell you he has just had another ten pairs this week. Just because the larger companies dont list a part dosn't mean it is not available. I had this with the S1 roadster hardtop front chrome above the screen - I was told no one made it - but CMC do ! So it pays to dig.
Other items I furnish Richard with supplies of are the FHC quarter light hinge pillars (early type and late ) and six and 12 cylinder OTS door chrome frames.
Met a guy the other day after an ebay purchase and he had a sack full of bonnet shims he had had laser cut in different thicknesses out of stainless steel - he wasnt going to offer them to the market - I think he should !

How could any individual ever use a whole sackful? ..... Unless he restores E types of course.
One should help one's fellow travellers.... (even at a price).
