#1 Series 3 Soft Top Suppliers.

Post by AussieEtype » Tue Dec 30, 2014 3:10 am

My Series 3 still has its original 43yo vinyl soft top which off course is now a bit too small and needs to be replaced. I have an unused replacement to go on in due course but seeing the fabric hood on a friends Porche I think I would rather go for a fabric hood like mohair.

I suppose I could get a local upholsterer to make one using the new vinyl one I have a pattern but if possible I think buying one off the shelf where the design has been tried and tested would be preferred.

So can anyone recommend a suppler of fabric hoods for the Series 3.

Thanks

I have used Aldridge in the UK for 2 cars. Good quality.
You will probably need to get the hood properly fitted by a trimmer.

Thanks for that Andrew - looks like I will get a few other parts there as well.

Prices seem reasonable.

I am dealing with cabrio hoods since 1998. Also I am owing two EV12 cabrios. I can deliever the best hood for this car on the market.
A friend of me, who has the biggest e-type garage in Germany, has tested a lot of suppliers for this typ of hood. Since I have sold him one of my hoods 8 years ago, he is buying all the hoods from me.
The hood is prduced in fabric in black, blue, beige or bordeaux. The inner side can be in beige or black.
If somebody is interessted, I can send some pictures of a new mounted black hood on an EV12.
