Many years too late for this topic... but I grew up in Dunbar ( over the Lammermuir hills from Duns).
I vividly recall seeing a beautiful primrose yellow open top e type registration 'jim 1' outside our local newsagents one Sunday morning.
That's about all I know but as a a goggle eyed child I reckoned it must have been my hero's car and looked everywhere for him. No luck.
