#1 Window Frames

Post by jrevel » Wed Feb 11, 2015 11:39 am

Hi

Just starting down the long road of restoring a series 2 FHC. The car has already been partly broken down (robbed for parts). There are a pair of door window frames. I have noted that they have no lower braces and most of the ones I have seen do have lower braces.

Is there a reason for this?

Thank you

There should be a longitudinal strip which runs between the two legs. It is, IIRC, very shallow channel ( to stiffen it ) mounted with its wide dimension in the vertical plane, and its function is to stiffen the trapezoid shape of the frames as a whole

This changed by series 2 production but only on the FHC's - the lower rail was deleted by Jaguar - it continued on with the OTS.

hope this helps Barrie

Great and thank you for the feedback. Looks like I do have the right ones then.

Cheers Darren, will be up to see you again in two or three weeks. She has me fitting a new bathroom at the moment so the car is on hold!
