New member now has wheels!

Hi all, I'm an (almost) new member here from Kent England, and want to say thanks for the advice so freely given. I originally wanted a home market SI 4.2 FHC but the hunt soon widened to include imports. Anyway, cutting the story short we now own a SIII! The wife and I almost bought a primrose MGB about thirty years ago and it's taken all this time to get round to doing it proper as it were!

I'd still like to own an SI FHC one day - their lines being superior to the 2+2's. In my opinion anyway! Anyway, here's a couple of snaps our new baby. If anyone recognises the number plate I'd love to hear from you. I've written to the original owner (as named on the Heritage cert) but doubt if I'll hear back.

Graham, welcome to owning and driving an E Type. I'm sure you and your wife will have as much enjoyment as my wife and I and so many others here on the forum. Has she volunteered to help wash and polish the car yet?

From the one picture is does seem rather allright! Nice panel shuts, and I would take a stab at original paint? How's the interior, engine bay, and underbody?

btw I too am blessed with pale primrose, some days I like it (and it certainly does stand out amongst today's shades of grey) other days I feel it's a bit too feminine

any, I specifically chose a 2+2 (and am perfectly aware of the 2-seater brigade and what they think) due to my kids needing to be shuttled to & from school each day, and to be honest (throwing stones in a glasshouse) the lines of the 2+2 in profile are pretty darned good

I showed my car to a ex-McLaren package engineer who now lives over here, a blind test in a way, and when I explained how short the doors are on the 2-seater he was surprised, and much preferred the balanced lines of the 2+2, in addition he's a big bloke and appreciated the roof-line and sight lines from the interior; I was pretty chuffed with that, and since then concile myself with the 2-seater brigade as being the ones missing out :D

Looks fabulous Graham, I think the primrose looks very nice on the S3, there was a local one came on my run last year, lovely motor. Enjoy and look forward to hearing of your runs in the E :)

Nice looking car Graham, they still look fabulous in primrose too.

Like you, I have a 2+2, albeit somewhat earlier and in about a thousand pieces at present, but am enjoying the challenges of restoration :)

How does one get to view the register? I recently filled in a form with the car's details and sent it off.

Here's my interior. I know the wheel's not original but I'm happy with it and I think a touch of wood adds some class to the BL interior.

Looking very good Graham. It took me quite a while to find a Primrose S3, and for me it is one of the best colours for the E Type.
