#1 My car

Post by jaime » Thu May 14, 2009 6:37 pm

I thought I'd show you my car as I'm in the process of taking it back to bare metal, and found it interesting where they've used lead.

Looks like you have a pretty straight body under the paint...are you keeping it red?

yes pretty happy no major rot,(the paint was blistered all over) and I will return it to red as that is what is on the heritage certificate. Would of liked it black but was told it'll devalue it being an unoriginal colour

Hi Jamie, that's interesting about the colour as I was told it didn't make a difference. My S3 is white and I'm going to paint it a dark silver (forgotten the actual Jaguar reference name)...that has me thinking if I should do it the original white colour!

I don't believe changing the colour of paint or upholstery will affect the value unless it is a historically important car (9600 HP, 77 RW etc). It is however worth making sure your chosen combination is in period Jaguar colours.

It can go the other way as an Opalescent Gunmetal OTS with red interior will probably have a wider market than almost any other colour combination and some colours can be hard to sell.

I agree with David, from all the ones i've looked at over the last year, original colour of bodywork and interior seems to make no difference.

However, like David, I would advise sticking with an original colour scheme, as bright pink with a white interior may be hard to shift!!

I would think you would be pretty safe with black.

Jamie

Any Opalescent colour is desirable - Gunmetal/red, Silver Blue/blue, Silver grey/black, Gold/red etc. Colour is a personal choice but some look better in certain latitudes. Black interior goes with most body colours but is a big no-no in an OTS - try sitting in one after a day in the sun with the roof down
