#1 Fuel filler drain

Post by Arbington » Thu Mar 19, 2015 4:42 pm

Hi All
I'm having trouble finding a pic or info on this.

Could anyone tell me -

The fuel filler recess are has a water drain with a flexible pipe down to the rear well of the car. My car has the hole there but no actual fitting for the pipe to go onto.
Would this be a screwed in fitting or would it be a fitting braised within this hole.

Presume you mean where the hose goes at the bottom in the boot well. In my 1962fhc it just pokes out of the hole. There is no fitting as such in the boot floor. If a new pipe then pop over the drain tube at the filler end, poke out of the bottom of the car and then mark and cut off more or less flush with the underside of the boot floor. :) julian

My 65 has a metal tube brazed to the boot floor.

My 65 OTS has a larger pipe brazed to the boot floor just behind the rear wheel to take the drain from the bootlid gutter. Brazed onto the side of this pipe is a smaller one to take the filler cap drain.
NB these rubber hoses need to be carefully routed as they can prevent the tank from fitting up close enough to the side of the car.
