I need to remove my oil filter head whilst I'm chasing down some leaks. I have removed the four bolts but it's stuck fast to the engine, am I missing a trick here? The engine is in the car.

Hi,
There is only 4 bolts for the oil head filter.
Your seal can be "glue" to the blocand the head.
Did you taper on with a plastic mallet ?
You can also insert a cuter blade just on the seal.
It's is better to direct the blade towards the block which is in cast iron rather than the head which is in aluminum and gently tap on the blade with a hammer.
the easiest way is to do it from underneath the car on the bottom of the filter head.
Watch your fingers !!

#3 Filter head removal
Yes.....just a gentle tap once the bolts are off will do the trick. Be very careful to remove all trace of the old gasket from the block and head....a brand new Stanley knife blade is very handy....before you refit.
