yes quite, well I see what you mean. It just a shame if we all make our way there and spend the day walking past each other as we don't know who is who!

Well, for what it's worth in my rush of excitement I've already printed a pair of labels for Mrs Gravygraham and I. That's our names, car model and reg no.

If you do implement your list Andrew, ours is a pale primrose S3 coupe, HOS 272K.

I'm looking forward to the official launch of the club's Round Britain relay on the day too.

#203 Identification

Post by Tony » Thu Apr 07, 2016 11:00 pm

Not sure why people do not want to be identified with a badge so why not put a sign on the car saying who owns the car. If anybody wants to meet you I am sure you will not be far away.
I received an E Mail from the E Type club today saying they are using the event to launch their Drive around the coast of Britain and will have 60 car attending. With the E Type Forums 49 cars that will be some attendance.

I suspect the club's 60 cars might include our attendance figure.

Hi All,
Unfortunately I am not going to make this get together as my chosen ride has decided this week for the engine let go.
I would appear that whoever rebuilt it "over the pond" put the engine together with one of the thrust washers the wrong way around (Hard & Soft facing) on the crank shaft resulting in a piece of this washer being digested by the oil pump & it going bang.
So I have removed us from the list and hope that all have a great day out. I was really looking forward to this as the first trip out this year ! :)
See you all next year !! Lol
PS: If Angus turns up in a white S2 FHC I've been well stuffed and need to report it stolen !

Really, really sorry for you Mike. The newly trimmed seats and re-pinned hinges really improved the car. Still, on the bright side, we are only looking at a rebuild and not a wrecked engine which is what you would have been facing if you continued driving it.

We will get it sorted asap.

You can still turn up in a other vehicle you know - it is about meeting people not cars! Besides we will have enough bleedin' E Types so anything else will be a welcome relief.

I read this in classic and sports car, might be of use to some...

Sunday 24th April 2006...15 min slots... Hagerty International, the classic car insurance specialist, has announced that they will host their first live Valuation Arena at the Sunday Scramble, supported by H&H Classic Auctions, Classic Cars magazine and the online classified site ClassicCarsForSale.co.uk. Valuation experts will be on hand to inspect and photograph vehicles, swiftly providing the owner with a valuation certificate and thus ensuring that your vehicles are properly valued and therefore properly insured.

Entry into Hagerty?s Valuation Arena is only available to people attending the Sunday Scramble at Bicester. The Valuation will cost ?15, all of which will go charity, and each valuation will include a certificate and goody bag of classic extras from all participating partners. Click here to book your tickets for the Sunday Scramble and add your valuation as soon as possible as spaces are limited. Owners are urged to bring as much information on their vehicle as possible for the valuation experts to inspect.

You may want a quick check of your insurance policies folks - they're suggesting you might need active airfield cover for the valuation area (not the part where the forum meet is though) - I'm guessing this a specific exclusion on some policies.

So I didn't make it to get my OTS on the road in time for Bicester. I will be coming though, just without the E. Regarding parts, I have a small part to bring for another forum member. I'd like to get my late S2 clock and tank level refurbished, anyone attending who could do that? I'll be around saturday already.
