I'm wondering how on earth Guy Martin managed to blag a go at the controls of XH558.
I understand that the CAA are still investigating the last flight which it is alleged included a thoroughly naughty barrel roll.
I'm still disappointed that my last view of XH558 was as she turned on the horizon towards home base having aborted a display over the Revival at Goodwood this year.

It wasn't XH558 after all, but XM655 a 'taxiable' condition plane. There are three complete Vulcans, these two plus XL426, also in taxiable condition.
I wonder how much effort would be required get all three airbourne at the same time.

Chris, very little effort to get them airbourne, but to do it legally will never happen.
A very good proposal to keep these very complex aircraft in the air, even just '558, was put forward by the Historic Aircraft Association. Sadly the powers that be require support from manufacturers and type certificate holders and those are not willing to accept the legal resposibilities that go with that. It's the same reason Concorde will never fly again. BA wanted to keep her going but the French (Airbus/Aerospatiale) hold the type certificate and as Air France didn't want to fly Concorde any more then the French company took the decision not to provide that support.

I quite like Guy, yes I know he says everything twice but he's the genuine article and so many presenters seem fake to me.

I quite like Guy, he is the genuine article. He has a sense of wonder, doesn't seem to be worried by seeming to be a normal guy, nor does he mind expressing his wonder. Refreshing.

Guys
Changing the subject slightly, I live in North London and managed to catch the three Concordes forming up to fly into Heathrow the last time. They flew over my house and I think I video'd it, need to look for that!
Amazing sight, and special because Concorde normally did a long straight approach down the Thames, not the north one from Brookmans Park.

Used to come over my house in the evening on their way in to Heathrow: so punctual you could pretty much set your watch by them.
Got to know them pretty well by the end - so much so that my ears could pick up the merest 'disturbance in The Force' to let me know one was on its way.
Sadly missed.
