Correct colour/finish for rear brake callipers?

Hi

Can anyone tell me the correct finish/colour for my Feb 1962 fhc rear brake callipers?

They were painted silver during the previous restoration but I can't tell if that's correct.

My experience of older cars is that they were generally plated in a silver colour rather than zinc with yellow passivity. They may well have been painted, but my guess is cadmium or bright zinc, silver .

Nobody can see them.....but you will know!!!

Cadmium plating is now extinct so I would go for a zinc finish and then maybe a wee puff of clear lacquer maybe...they don't work had so should not be getting too hot!

I was thinking of using Eastwood Silver Cad spray, or their Golden Cad paint system. Does anyone have any experience of these? Eastwwod aslo does a spray called Brake Grey, which is resistsant to brake fluid.

Is the original cadmium coating more silver or more gold?

Zinc plating would be more durable of course, but I imagine it would look brighter than the cadmium.
