#1 New here

Post by Troctime » Tue Sep 06, 2016 7:49 am

Hi,

I just wanted to introduce myself on the forum. I'm Olivier.

I'm in France, close to Paris. I just bought this summer a FHC from 1962 (not flat) in the USA.

The car came to LE HAVRE and I took it home with a friend's trail.

I start a complete restauration, so I will probably be on the forum many time an ask several questions , thank you in advance for your advises and time,

Olivier

Bienvenue Olivier,
Surely you will enjoy this very rich forum in all aspects.
We all love pics here, please do not hesitate to post some as you go along, particularly that with the new forum this has become easier.
Your car looks already great, seems you can already enjoy it some time before you start dismantling!
Cheers,
Ralph

Hi,

I'm very glad to see all the mails wishing me a good welcome and offering help.

I certainly will need some :)

I got it from a dealer in Texas. I bought it only on pictures, but almost 100. I had him on the phone and I got some more details.
A solid car, few rust holes, very complete, engine not working ... a good choice for complete restoration !

I took the decision on my Birthday and the car was born the same year, I think that was a big part of the decision :)

I payed and hoped all will be fine !

I bought it in june, it was shipped in jully and arrived beginning of august.

Here are the pictures of the car I bought, some from the dealer and the last one from the arrival.

I do now have the car by a friend, Andrew who worked a lot in car the last 50 years, he started at 17 by Aston Martin.

So we decided to dismantle the car completely.

We we start with the body, we will have the car sand blasted.
Examine where all the rust is located, cutting the rusted parts.
Buying new panels and welding them.
The car will be sand blasted again and protected and painted ... etc

Should I start a new subjet or continue on this one ?

here are some pictures from the dismantled jag ...

Hi.....looks like a great progect you have there......ideally log your progress by starting a new thread in tbe restoration section......you mention sandblasting the shell....there has been quite a lot of discussion on this and distortion of the larger panels can happen due to heat build up...you may want to look at other options...good luck...
