hesitation at 1500 to 2250

I have a hesitation when my car pulls between 1500 and 2250 revs, occasionally. My car is a 3.8 with a 123 distributor and standard air filter. I have replaced plugs NGK BP5ES dizzy cap & rotor arm both of which were black and pitted, leads also replaced. 123 distributor has been fitted for over nine years no problems, until a week ago there was no hesitation/cough, any ideas?

I had the wrong gap on my spark plugs, which caused me the same symptom. Went from .035 to .025 and it purrs now.

Thanks for the reply,I set the plugs to 25 thou and also checked fuel filter, clean as a whistle.

Hi Adam...if everything was black and pitted it sounds like its been a bit neglected....not sure if your saying it hasnt been serviced for 9 years but the carbs could probably do with an overhaul...also just check out all tne low tension wireing could just be a loose wire .....end of the day its electrics or fuel

Hi, its serviced every year, 123 distributor only needs cap and rotor arm replacing every 40000 km. Carbs rebuilt in the last 15000 miles, tried using choke to see if it made difference to hesitation no difference.
