Seat-belts for a Series 1 2+2

Hi all,
Greetings again from the Land of Oz........I am unsure as to whether this has been covered before on the Forum, if it has, apologies, but I cannot get it to come up on Search. I am trying to find a set of seat-belts that will suit the 2+2, (front and back if possible........) but no luck thusfar. Have contacted SNG,a company at www.quickfitbs.co.uk, and ftds-seatbelts.co.uk, but no response from any one of them....
The above assumes "normal" fixed belts as originally fitted. Has anyone seen a conversion to inertia reel type, that would also be of interest....
Any information/comments/advice would be appreciated......

Mine are all Securon. Cheap and come in a range of colours. I've three point inertia reel belts front and back. A 1.5 would have had three point belts in the front for UK cars, it was mandatory from 1967.

Norman, FTDS made up inertia belts for my FHC that have a strap at the static position rather than the stalk that is used by many conversions. I need this as the stalk makes the buckle sit too far forward on my thin body. It would need a bracket making up for the inertia reel to sit on. I should think they could work for the front seats.

Hi Norman.....dont think you can get off the shelf belts for a 2+2....I can also recomend http://www.fdts-seatbelts.co.uk they will make up anything that you want..any colour..if you have trouble contacting them PM me with your email and i will call them and give your details(its just a local phone call for me).. i had a set of inertias made for my S2 2+2...but hid the mechanism in the inner wing...quite a lot of work but i was retrimming the whole interior....any inertia that you get just make sure that it will work at the angle you are mounting it at, you get horizontal, vertical, and some adjustable ones.. Hi Norman,

May not be much help, but I modified my Series 3 FHC (same shell, more or less) to take inertia reel belts as fitted to the later Series 3 cars. Problem with the standard (well, optional from Jaguar) design for the early cars, is that the reel is very prominent and possibly even dangerous if you do squeeze people in the back seats due to location. It is possible to hide the reels within the trim, but I had to drill holes for the reel mountings and weld in a captive bolt for the upper mount on the B post. Might be too much modification, but very tidy and unobtrusive and you did say that you were not into total originality!

Not much disturbance, possible to make the car look original again easily and I managed it without damage to my freshly painted shell.

I sent a serious enquiry to Quickfit for belts for my Series 1 and got no response whatsoever.

I don't know what I am going to end up with or where I'll get them from but it's unlikely to be from there. It's a shame really because I have heard such good things about them, not least from the guys at Classic & Sports Car.

Hi Stuart....you wont get better than from http://www.fdts-seatbelts.co.uk they made me a great pair of inertias at a good price and quick turnaround..... they are used by some of the very best restoration firms, not just E types

Quickfit are excellent but you need to speak to them on the phone rather than use email. Products are top class with heavy chrome buckles and Jaguar leapers.

I've heard so many good things about Quickfit that I've never considered going anywhere else for mine. Hence my disappointment.

Maybe they should remove the "contact us" section from their website. I am definitely of the "if it's important then they'll speak to me" persuasion so can understand their position.

Many thanks to all for those speedy responses........I'm going to wait for a few days to see if any of the 3 companies I've tried will eventually respond, given that we have just come thro' a weekend. Not extra optimistic, maybe I'll try some direct telephone calls instead, or even a direct email to that chap Rory mentioned at quickfitsbs........

I had great service from Pawel at Quickfit and all by email, although was back in 2015.
I just sent an email listing exactly what I wanted (the website contains all necessary info / components, webbing / etc). I had a quote within a few days after which I had the belts within 3 weeks.
