#1 Westinghouse front lamps

Post by Durango2k » Sun Aug 13, 2017 10:01 am

I have found a set of Westinghouse sealed beams on my S1, ex-US car.

Are they of any use to anyone here, or should I simply either put them away for originality or drop them in the bin ?

For me, I put them away for originality for that car (as long as they are the originals). Some prefer to sell off on fleabay.
It's all down to the individual really.

Originally they would have been Lucas A-F700 sealed beam units.

Those are nothing more than aftermarket replacements. When sealed-beam lamps were mandatory for road use in the U.S., replacements were made by Sylvania, General Electric, Westinghouse and probably a few others. They have no real value, monetary or otherwise.

Tonight I checked them closer. One is a Westinghouse H112, the other a genuine (?) Lucas L 15 (or 19).

Important question: is the other hardware the same - or do I have to swap anything when changing over from Sealed Beams to standard Euro Lights ?

Should be the same, the difference was in the headlamp unit itself. Same housing, same connectors.
