Found this diagram for a similar model....but it has the same speaker plug as mine......have been told via email from a German Radio supplier that "The Ohm value on vintage Blaupunkt radios always is 4 Ohm."... so im assuming on the plug the one speaker connection would be 4ohm... the 2 speaker connection would be 2x8ohm in parallel......but im doubting my self.....i dont want to blow it on first switch on....thats assuming its a worker anyway

Hi Steve,

I’ve been running a Blaupunkt Köln for years now and although my speaker connections are at the side of the radio amp casing, they are of a similar with the three pins. Stereo speakers option had the four pin layout. I’m using 8ohm speakers and purely as these were the slimmest I could find. I did run them initially off the 4 ohm single speaker pins but once I found the correct pins for 2 speaker parallel, it made a big difference. Also wiring speakers in anti phase helped. What I did find out, during my investigations with the Blaupunkt vintage radios, was a warning not to switch radio on without speakers being connected. My pin layout is at the bottom here but same theory. This May help:

Thanks for the replies.......dosnt quite answer my speeker ohm rating problem as in the diagram above it mentions 1 speaker 5ohm.....2 speaker in shunt 2.5ohm......anyone have info of the Hamburg speaker rating.....do i actually need to get it right......could i use either a 4ohm or an 8ohm in the one speaker position.....would useing the wrong one blow the o/p......thanks......Steve
PS..found this info in one of the links above...just need same info for 60,s units ......"These mono output radios are designed to run either one or two speakers. Speakers should be 8 ohm through the mid 1970's. Using 4 ohm speakers will damage these 8 ohm radios over time"

As an electrical engineer if you are not sure use 8 ohm speakers for test purposes as the higher ohmsge is safest. In any event switch on on lowest volume setting and avoid high volume especially if yo decide to use 4 ohm rated speakers.

Just an update.....found a Dutch company that specialises in vintage radios and Blaupunkts.....they confirmed that all vintage Blaupunkts use 4ohm speakers. ......typically these radios have connections for a single or twin speakers. ......for single output use 1 4ohm.........for twin use two 4ohm in parallel. .......Steve https://www.classentials.com/product/bl ... th-module/
